Cony: The Rams return a senior-heavy roster after earning the No. 4 seed in last year’s Class B playoffs. Coach Lindsey Morin said she’s relying on the team’s three captains — libero Hannah Kidd, outside hitter Rhya Turner and setter Ellie Gould — to lead Cony back to the postseason and hopefully a deeper playoff run. Morin added that games against Gardiner will be big for Cony as the “old tried and true rivalry.”

Gardiner: Second-year head coach Bill Boardman said he’s interested to see how the Tigers fare in their move from Class B to Class C. Gardiner, which was 8-7 and missed the playoffs last year, will face teams primarily from Down East, such as reigning Class C state champion Narraguagus, Machias and Woodland, as well as known area foe Maranacook. The Tigers are a veteran bunch, with seniors filling eight of the 11 roster spots.

Maranacook: The Black Bears are entering this season with a new coach, Jorgeanne Barley — the program’s third head coach in three seasons. Maranacook finished 4-11 last season and earned a postseason berth. Gardiner joining the Class C ranks gives the Black Bears a familiar rival to battle for a spot in the postseason.

Messalonskee: A year ago, the Eagles were rebuilding from a strong 2023 season and started their schedule by dropping four of their first six matches. But they rebounded to win seven of their final eight, earning the No. 8 seed in Class B. This fall’s schedule includes contests against top Class B teams such as reigning state champion Washington Academy, Yarmouth and York.

Nokomis: With a roster made up entirely of upperclassmen, the Warriors look to improve on their 6-8 finish last season and earn a spot in the postseason. Coach Kate Myers-Jewett’s squad returns 15 athletes, highlighted by the timely kills and strong aces of seniors Ashlyn Bowie and Elizabeth Parker. Another key returner is senior Rayonna White, who had 124 assists last fall.
