WATERVILLE — The fifth annual Tools to Thrive Backpack School Supply Drive-Thru for grades K-12 is set for 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Waterville Elks Lodge #905 at 76 Industrial Road. A total of 700 backpacks will be given away.
A child must be accompanied by an adult so they can choose the backpack they like the best.
All backpacks will be stuffed with schools supplies for their grade levels.
Single haircuts, snacks and games also will be available.
Tools to Thrive Vision/ Mission is to support public education in the community by providing free backpacks filled with school supplies to students in need. Every child deserves school supplies regardless of their family’s income or background and has the right to a quality education. The ultimate goal is to level the playing field so every child has access to the tools that will allow them to achieve academic success and feel confident. They will have “Tools to Thrive,” according to a news release from the Tools for Thrive Tri Chairs Karen Kelley-Grenier, Rhonda Landry and Felecia Gaulin.
