NORRIDGEWOCK — A rear-end collision Wednesday morning sent two children and two adults to the hospital with minor injuries after the drivers involved said the sun’s glare prompted the wreck, according to a fire official.
The crash occurred on U.S Route 201A, also known as Madison Road, around 8:30 a.m.
Many roads in the area were slick after several inches of snow fell Tuesday afternoon into early Wednesday morning. The operators of the two vehicles reported that glare from the sun led to the crash, according to Daryl Wyman, Norridgewock’s deputy fire chief.
The four people who suffered injuries had typical complaints following a rear-end collision, such as neck pain, and were taken by ambulance to the hospital to be evaluated further, Wyman said. Another three children were involved but were not injured during the wreck, he said.
The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office and three ambulance units responded along with the Norridgewock Fire Department, according to county dispatch logs.
