WINSLOW — A dedication of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Lyon’s new nature center, Joseph House, is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 80 Garland Road.
The dedication is open to all.

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Lyon put out a call in April for assistance with construction of an outdoor education/nature center at their facility. They had successfully raised the money needed, had designed the structure and were gathering up the necessary materials for construction.
They started to look for volunteer labor and expertise in building construction. When Waterville Area Habitat For Humanity responded, a perfect partnership was formed, according to a news release from the Peter Phair with the local Habitat For Humanity affiliate.
That affiliate happened to be preparing for its next house build and saw the Sisters’ project as a prime opportunity to round up volunteers and practice their building skills before they begin their next project in Oakland. Construction started in late May and was completed in September.
Harold “Skip” Pratt, the volunteer construction coordinator for Habitat, oversaw a dozen volunteers who spent more than 1,500 hours on the project.
