AUGUSTA — Lithgow Public Library has brought back its A Capital Read program after a six-year hiatus.

This year’s title is “The Poacher’s Son,” by Paul Doiron. Doiron is a best-selling author; “The Poacher’s Son,” his first book in the Mike Bowditch series, won the Barry Award and the Strand Critics Award and was nominated for an Edgar for Best First Novel.

The program is a “one book” community read project spearheaded by the library and sponsored by the Friends of Lithgow Library. The library aims to offer this program to deepen the appreciation for literature through reading, discussion, activities and events related to the chosen title, as well as to enhance the feeling of community in its diverse city and demonstrate the power of libraries to bring people together.

Copies of the book are available to check out at Lithgow Library, 45 Winthrop St., and the author plans to give a talk on the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 27; the time and location is to be announced.

Other events and programs based on themes of the book also will be offered during September.
