AUGUSTA — Spectrum Generations plans to host the 11th annual Celebrity Chef Challenge fundraiser at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at the Augusta Elks, 397 Civic Center Drive.

The event will feature three local chefs who will prepare signature dishes based on the Meals on Wheels guidelines and standards.

This year’s featured chefs include Mollie Jellison of Long Reach Kitchen & Catering in Bath, Sheila Iveson of Sheba’s Wicked Kitchen in Oakland and Rob Christerson of Rí Rá Irish Pub & Restaurant in Portland. Their signature dishes will be voted on by attendees and reviewed by a panel of judges, including Lulu Ranta of The Quarry in Monson and winner of the 2023 James Beard Award, Margaret Noel of the Augusta Civic Center and Lori Dumont of the Parsonage House in Vassalboro.

The three courses prepared by the chefs will be served to attendees by local celebrities, including Matt and Lizzy from the morning show on 92 Moose.

The event will be emceed by Connor Clement of WMTW News 8.

The winning dish from the event will be incorporated into Spectrum Generations’ Meals on Wheels program. Guests can also attend a reception with appetizers, and entertainment will be provided by The Pam Tyler Trio. Dessert will be four featured gelato flavors from the Gelato Fiasco of Brunswick and Portland. Aash bar and silent auction will also be available throughout the evening.

Tickets cost $75 and are required for this fundraising event. All proceeds will support the programs and services of Spectrum Generations, such as Meals on Wheels, which utilizes staff and volunteers to prepare and deliver meals to homebound older adults and adults with disabilities in communities throughout Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, Somerset and Waldo counties, and the towns of Brunswick and Harpswell in Cumberland County.

Last year 2,170 people received 314,327 meals through the Meals on Wheels program. Meanwhile, 1,849 people attended social dining at Spectrum Generations community centers, where over 26,000 meals were prepared and served.
