Deborah L. Packard

JAY – Deborah L. Packard, 68, of Jay lost her 4-year courageous battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer on Friday, August 18, 2023. She passed away on her own terms at home surrounded by her loving family.

Deborah was born on Nov. 12, 1954 in Farmington, the daughter of Lillian and Dennis Wright. She graduated from Jay High School and The University of Maine Farmington with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught in the Jay School system for 25 years where she built strong friendships with her coworkers and was a fierce advocate for her students.

Deborah was an incredible artist and enjoyed painting, carving, sewing and tending her beautiful flower gardens. She cherished the time spent with her daughters talking, laughing and bestowing her wisdom. She was an incredible role model of what a mother is supposed to be. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy! She was an incredible friend to many and a joy to know. She had an incredible sense of humor right up to the end. Making her family laugh and letting them know it would be okay.

Deborah married her devoted husband Richard on August 14, 2010, they were together 27 wonderful years. They enjoyed spending time camping, dancing, fishing on Lost Pond and spending time with family. She was an avid Red Sox and Kansas City Chiefs (Mahomes) fan.

Deborah is survived by her husband, Richard Packard; daughters Darcy White, husband Travis and children Austin (Lilly) and Emily; Dixie Bonnevie, husband Troy and children Sydney and Shayna; Donna Jewell, husband Irving and children Hunter, Brooke, Michael and Anthony; step son Kyle Packard and partner John; her mother Lillian Wright; sibling Larry Wright, sister-in-law Donna Wright and brother-in-law Lloyd Latham; and many loved family members and friends.

Deborah was predeceased by her father; sisters Barbie Wright and Linda Latham, brother Den Wright; and her stepdaughter Mariah Packard.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 1-3 p.m. at Dan and Scott’s Funeral Home, 488 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington Maine, followed by a graveside service at 3:45 p.m. at Birchland Cemetery in North Jay. Memories may be shared at dsfuneral.com.
