Christina O’Brien of Waterville was one of three business advisors to receive their Core Competencies Certification from the New England Professional Development group on May 17, according to a news release from the Maine Small Business Development Centers, a statewide program that helps entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses.

O’Brien serves small businesses in northern Kennebec and Somerset counties.

The other two business advisors include Eric Treworgy of Ellsworth and Dan Umphrey of Caribou.

NEPD is a professional development collaboration of the six Small Business Development Centers in New England and includes the Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island programs. The NEPD program provides a comprehensive, core knowledge training program and certification training is comprised of two elements – participation in specified online technical content and an in-person, two-day intensive group session.
