MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta is one of 50 hospitals nationwide nominated in an America’s Most Beautiful Hospital contest.

The center was voted for its edifice built in 2013. The 198-bed acute care hospital campus was designed by frontline and senior leadership. The center is surrounded by natural foliage and rolling hills, and is home to the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care, according to a news release from Soliant Health.

The contest is sponsored by national healthcare staffing firm Soliant. The program recognizes hospitals for their commitment to developing and improving their campuses, facilities and staff, thereby creating holistic and healing environments. Soliant will donate $5,000 to the winning hospital’s foundation.

Votes for hospital winners will be accepted through July 27 at soliant.com. The contest’s winners are scheduled to be announced Aug. 2.
