NORWAY — The Western Maine Art Group seeks works in all media for a juried art exhibit, open to all artists, in July at the Matolcsy Arts Center, 480 Main St.
The show will begin with a reception on Friday, July 7, and be judged Saturday, July 8. It will continue through July 29. The judge will be David Little, a Maine artist and author.
Artists are invited to submit works in all media, including photography and sculpture. All work must be suitably framed and ready to be hung. For free-standing sculptures, bases must be included.
Three cash prizes will be awarded, including $300 for first, $200 for second and $100 for third.
To apply, artists may email westernmaineartgroup@gmail.com as many as three jpeg images of their artwork, along with descriptions including contact information, title, size and medium. No submissions will be accepted after Monday, June 12. Artists will be notified of acceptance by June 15.
The group especially looks to attract and support artists working in the Oxford Hills area, according to a news release from member Michael Everett.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
