WINSLOW — One person was injured in a destructive house fire on Boston Avenue on Tuesday after jumping out of a window from the second floor to escape, officials said.
Three people were in the building at the time of the blaze and the other two escaped via the first floor, according to Winslow Fire Chief Ronnie Rodriguez. One person, whose exit was blocked, jumped from the second floor and was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center’s Thayer Center for Health in Waterville, Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez said he did not know the name of the person who was injured.
The Winslow Fire Department was dispatched at about 11:30 a.m. to a reported building fire at 23 Boston Ave. Flames could be seen in the second floor of the building on the corner of Boston Avenue, off Clinton Avenue.
No other structures were in danger and the fire was contained to the second-floor room where it appeared to have started, Rodriguez said.
It was a “hot fire” and a “good, quick knockdown” that contained the fire to one area of the second floor, Rodriguez said. The building was not a total loss, Rodriguez said.
The Office of State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze, he said.

Waterville, Oakland and Fairfield fire departments, as well as Delta Ambulance responded to the scene. Crews left around 2 p.m., Rodriguez said.
