The Albion Public Library has been selected by Maine Humanities Council to offer a free reading and discussion group, “Let’s Talk About It.” This program is provided by the Maine Humanities Council’s Harriet P. Henry Center for the Book in cooperation with the Maine State Library.
The series selected, “Fear and Hope: Writing from the Great Depression of the 1930s” will begin at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16 at the library at 18 Main St.
Books to be read and discussed include: “Since Yesterday: The Nineteen-Thirties in America” by Frederick Lewis Allen; “The Disinherited” by Jack Conroy; “Tender is the Night” by F. Scott Fitzgerald; “Gone with the Wind” by Margaret Mitchell; and “Uncle Tom’s Children” by Richard Wright. Books are available at the library.
Discussion will be led by Joshua A. Kercsmar, PhD. Kercsmar is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Sciences at Unity College.
