WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Laurine German hit a three-run triple in the sixth inning and the University of Maine softball team beat Hartford 5-2 in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

In the second game, Maddie Decker had a sacrifice bunt and Alyssa Derrick had a sacrifice fly in the eighth to lead Maine (11-4, 2-0 America East) to a 2-0 win. Hartford falls to 6-13, 0-2.

JOHNSON & WALES SWEEPS ST. JOSEPH’S: Jennifer Corona drove in three runs and tossed a two-hit shutout as the Wildcats (8-7, 5-1 GNAC) beat the Monks (4-10, 0-2) in the first game of a doubleheader in Standish. The Wildcats won the second game 6-1.

TRINITY SWEEPS BATES: Jenna Thomas hit a solo home run in the seventh and Meaghan Rice had an RBI single in the eighth as the Bantams (11-5, 3-0 NESCAC) beat the Bobcats (9-6, 0-3) in the first game of a doubleheader, 6-5 in Hartford, Connecticut. Trinity won the second game, 4-3.

BOWDOIN, TUFTS SPLIT: Allison Ruiz had an RBI double and Samantha Valdivia hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning as the Polar Bears (14-5, 1-2 NESCAC) beat the Jumbos (13-5, 2-1) 7-6 in the second game of a doubleheader in Medford, Mass. Tufts won the first game, 6-2.

SOUTHERN MAINE, EASTERN CONN. ST. SPLIT: Hannah Kenney, Amber Kelly and Courtney Davis each drove in two runs to lead the Huskies (7-9, 1-1 LEC) to a 7-2 win over the Warriors (4-11, 1-1) in the first game of a doubleheader in Mansfield, Connecticut. USM lost the second game, 5-2.

WESLEYAN 12, COLBY 11: Abby Manning scored an unassisted goal in overtime and the Cardinals (7-2, 3-1 NESCAC) beat the Mules (5-4, 1-4) in Middletown, Conn.
