Portland police are investigating the sexual assault of a woman in her home in Deering Center in the early morning hours Friday.

Police say an adult victim was sleeping when she was assaulted. There was no forced entry to the home, and the victim believes she knows the attacker, police said.

No weapons were threatened or displayed, and no arrests have been made. Police did not offer a street address of the attack, and said they do not believe there is a danger to the public at this time.

A police spokesman was not immediately available to respond to questions.
