The operator of a 35-foot sailboat has been charged with drunken boating after his vessel allegedly struck a moored boat near Portland Harbor.

The U.S. Coast Guard said in a statement that it received notification on Sunday of the contact between vessels from a Casco Bay Lines employee.

A crew from the South Portland Coast Guard Station responded and boarded the vessel. Portland police also arrived and conducted a field sobriety test. Tests determined the operator was impaired and was arrested for boating under the influence.

No one was aboard the 50-foot vessel that was struck.

The Coast Guard did not release a name.
