George Hughes, of Oakland, said he noticed a lot of alewives recently and expected striped bass soon while fishing at the confluence of the Sebasticook and Kennebec Rivers in Winslow on Friday. “The stripers usually arrive two to two and half weeks after you start seeing alewives,” said Hughes.
