SNAPSHOT: Smoldering snowmobile
Firefighter Jim Lane examines the smoking remains of a snowmobile that burned in Fairfield on Thursday. Owner Justin Bouchard said he had done some recent work on head gaskets on the Arctic Cat and took it out for a ride. “It started up real easy and while I was running it, I saw smoke and flames and jumped off,” Bouchard said.

SNAPSHOT: Salvage and repair
Justin Smith throws burned lumber off the second floor of a home on Weston Avenue in Madison on Wednesday. The house sustained serious damage in an arson fire set Nov. 30, 2010. Co-owner Alan Ward said the house will be rebuilt after salvage work is complete and will be smaller. Ward did not know when the house will be finished.
