Skiers and snowmobilers enjoy relaxing around an outdoor fire at the “beach” area at the base lodge at Sugarloaf recently. Lots of natural and man-made snow has been a boon for the ski resort, as the entire mountain was open and filled with winter enthusiasts.

Sidney firefighters survey a Toyota truck that rolled over on a shaded portion of West River Road, near the Dinsmore Road, on Sunday. State police Trooper Rick Moody said the accident was caused by slippery road conditions and the female operator complained of neck pain. A snowmobile in back of truck was ejected and also damaged.

STILL LIFE: Oakland brush fire
Oakland Deputy Fire Chief Hardy Taylor extinguishes flames sparked after a Libby Hill resident improperly disposed of hot ashes on Tuesday. Fire Chief Dave Coughlin said people need to use caution when getting rid of ashes and coals. “Everything is so dry due to the lack of rain and snow,” Coughlin said.
