Winslow Public Library, 136 Halifax St., has planned the following June events:

• Waterville Area Art Society’s members show, Celebration of Art ,will feature 18 works of art on display through July.

• Convergence of History, Winslow’s Native Hot-spot and Colonial Powder Keg is scheduled for 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 20. Dressed in period attire, historian Ken Hamilton will talk about Winslow’s pivotal role in early American history.

Conveniently positioned at the junction of two major regional canoe travel rivers, Winslow was also a primary canoe portage (foot path shortcut around the Great Falls of the Kennebec), important food resource basin and gathering place for several Wabanaki Native American groups. However, its location also served as a stage for several significant colonial histories, including an incident that caused the declaration of a World War (the 7 Years’ War).

• Treasures from Our Attics, a pop-up local history museum, will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, June 22.

The library will host a pop-up event to accompany the annual Fort Halifax Day celebration on Saturday, June 23.

Those who have objects of historical interest, please bring them to the library on June 22. In past years, people have brought in antique clocks, antique kitchenware, old postcards and photos, items found with a metal detector along the Sebasticook River.
