Gamma Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society, a professional honor society for key women educators worldwide, will sponsor an educators’ workshop from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 5, at the Viles Estate, 71 Stone St., in Augusta.
The topic of the workshop is “Bringing Social Studies Alive.” Sen. Angus King will provide a video-taped introduction to the workshop, followed by keynote speaker, Dr. Richard Biffle. Four break-out sessions with topics for K-12 educators will follow.
DKG is a professional honor society of key women educators worldwide.
The social sciences include anthropology, archaeology, culture, economics, geography, history, jurisprudence, linguistics, philosophy, political science, psychology, public health, religion and sociology.
Biffle, the keynote speaker, will begin to weave the tapestry of the academic disciplines that comprise the field of social studies, so that people can see the old and new ways of creating the whole cloth of understanding people within their systems.
