SOUTH CHINA — Caden Turcotte came on in the seventh inning with the bases loaded and got three outs to end the game and give Erskine a 5-2 win over Belfast in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B baseball action Monday.
Turcotte also had two singles. Boomer Jorgensen and Sage Hapworth-Belanger chipped in two singles apiece as well for Erskine (1-1).
Belfast falls to 0-1.
MARANACOOK 7, MCI 0: Jay Lauter struck out seven batters and allowed just two hits in six innings of work to lead the Black Bears to a win over the Huskies in Readfield.
Aric Belanger and Dan Garand each had doubles for Maranacook (2-1).
Isaac Bussell had a double for MCI (0-2).
SOFTBALL
MONMOUTH 12, WISCASSET 0, 5 innings: Haylee Langlois had a double, a single and two RBIs to spark the host Mustangs to the Mountain Valley Conference win.
Abby Flanagan added two singles and an RBI for Monmouth (1-0) while Emily Chasse also doubled.
Wiscasset falls to 0-2.
OAK HILL 11, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 2: Molly Flaherty went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs as the Raiders rolled to the MVC victory in Jay.
Mahala Smith and winning pitcher Sadie Waterman also went 2 for 4 for Oak Hill (2-0).
Spruce Mountain dropped to 0-1.
BELFAST 4, ERSKINE 2, 8 innings: Olivia Lovejoy had two singles and the Lions squandered a 2-0 lead before rallying in the 8th inning to grab the KVAC B victory.
Madison Boynton and Summer Hotham each had hits for the Eagles (0-2).
WINTHROP 25, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 4, 5 innings: Hannah Caprara had five RBI and Kate Perkins had a grand slam to lead the Ramblers (1-0) to the MVC victory in Kents Hill.
Caprara had two doubles and a home run for Winthrop, while Layne Audet got the victory in the circle.
Mountain Valley fell to 0-1.
WINSLOW 5, MESSALONSKEE 3: Paige Trask was outstainding in her first start of the year, allowing just three hits while striking out four for the Black Raiders (2-1) in Winslow.
Sarah Guimond had two hits, including a triple, and two runs scored in the win. Bailey Robbins, Broghan Gagnon and Natalie Greene all drove in runs.
Makayla Wilson had a homer and two RBIs for Messalonskee (2-1).
GIRLS LACROSSE
CONY 11, LINCOLN 2: Sarah Caron, Kami Lambert and Sydney Avery each scored two goals to lead the Rams to a season-opening win in Newcastle.
Lauren Coniff, Catherine Silva, Faith Leathers-Pouliot, Kiara Henry and Linelys Velazquez each added goals for Cony (1-0). Caron and Coniff each were credited with assists.
Kat Biasuz had seven saves for the Rams.
Brinley Harrison and Ellie Matthews each scored goals for Lincoln (0-1). Avery Lowe had 12 saves.
