The Monmouth Lions Club Speak-Out 2018 was held March 12 at the United Church of Monmouth’s Packard Activity Center in Monmouth.
The winners, all Monmouth Academy students, were Kaitlin Hunt with her speech “Impact of Rosa Parks, she received $100 and a trophy. Natalie Grandahl’s “Definition of Beauty” placed second, she was awarded $75 and a trophy; and Bryce Boulet’s “Quebec Independence,” placed third and was awarded $50 and a trophy.
The judges were Lions Douglas Grant, Robert Cyr Jr. and Debbie Sanborn.
After each speech, contestants were asked questions by Lion Chris Bryant and Lion Christina Randell. Speeches were evaluated in three categories: Delivery of speech, material and response to the questions.
Monmouth Academy coaches Scott and Cathy Foyt were each presented with a Lions Clubs International pen in recognition of their hard work and dedication to Monmouth Academy and students.
