HALLOWELL — A survey of work by artist Sasson Soffer, who was born in 1925 in Baghdad, Iraq, and died in 2009 in New York, will be on view March 30 through April 28 at 100 Water St., in Hallowell. An opening reception is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 30.

“Sasson Soffer, Monumental Dream” offers an illuminating overview of Soffer’s production from the late 1950s to the 1990s, including a range of works on paper, paintings, sculptures and documental material. Interwoven throughout both floors of the gallery, the exhibition explores Soffer’s sculptures as an effort to turn his dreams into reality, whereas his paintings and works on paper attempt to turn reality into dreams, fantasies and wish fulfillment, according to a news release from the gallery.

This exhibit is presented by The Harlow in association with The Sasson Soffer Foundation and curated by Brigita Krasauskaite, of Foreign Territories (Art Advisory.)
