BANGOR — Undefeated Hermon was dominant for most of the Class B North boys basketball championship game, beating Mt. Desert Island 51-38 at the Cross Center.

Top-seeded Hermon, now 21-0, will face Wells in the Class B state championship game.

This is Hermon’s first regional crown since 2000. No. 2 MDI ends the season at 17-4.

Hermon led 40-18 midway through the fourth quarter, before the Trojans rallied to cut the Hawks lead to nine, 42-33, with just under two minutes left.

Cody Hawes scored 16 points for Hermon, while Garrett Trask added 11. Andrew Phelps had 10 points for MDI.
