Manchester Lions Club Past District Governor Don Taylor recently was honored for 50 years of Lions service at a club meeting. Also at the meeting was Past Vice District Governor Al Godfrey from the Jay-Livermore Falls Lions Club, who also was celebrating 50 years of Lions service.
Taylor and Godfrey were inducted into Lions on the same night, Jan. 12, 1967, at the Winthrop Lions Club.
This year Lions International is celebrating a Century of Service having been formed in 1917 by Chicago businessman Melvin Jones. As with Lions International these two Lions also are celebrating a Century of Service. Lions are the largest service organization in the world with 1.4 million members in 46,746 clubs located in 210 countries around the world.
