A woman riding a snowmobile was taken to the hospital Sunday night for treatment of non-life threatening after she drove off a trail in West Forks Plantation, according to authorities.
Charlene Bloss, 45, was driving on Interconnecting Trail System 86 with her boyfriend, Robert Bugdin, 53, of Riverhead, New York, when the snowmobile crash occurred, according to a news release from Gen. John MacDonald, spokesman for the Maine Warden Service.
Bugdin, who was riding ahead of Bloss, noticed that she was no longer behind him when he reached a trail intersection, MacDonald said.
About a quarter-mile back, Bugdin found Bloss underneath her snowmobile. She had driven off the trail and downhill, MacDonald said, adding that inexperience was a likely factor in the crash.
Bugdin took Bloss to the Hawks Nest Lodge while waiting for emergency responders. Bloss was taken to Redington-Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan. MacDonald said her injuries were not considered life-threatening. Authorities did not immediately know Bloss’s town or city or residence.
