WATERVILLE — Mt. Blue and Maine Coast Waldorf of New Gloucester ran away with Nordic skiing state championships Friday at Quarry Road Trails.
The Mt. Blue boys and girls each won in Class A for the second consecutive year. Maine Coast’s girls won their seventh straight Class C title and its boys’ team won for the fifth year in a row.
Friday’s freestyle races wrapped up the two-day competition amid temperatures above 50 degrees and plenty of sunshine. Junior Olivia Skillings of Maine Coast added the freestyle title to Thursday’s classical crown by covering the 5-kilometer course in 18:26.
Mt. Blue senior Julia Ramsey completed her sweep of Class A individual titles with a clocking of 18:57.
Waynflete senior Willson Moore won the Class C freestyle in 14:39. Mt. Blue senior Tucker Barber was fastest in Class A at 15:08.
In Class A girls, Mt. Blue won with 35 points to 88 for second-place Deering. Fryeburg Academy was third at 101.
The Mt. Blue boys wound up at 41 with Falmouth (109) second and Oxford Hills (125) third.
The Maine Coast girls finished with 34 points to 110 for Class C runner-up Orono. Madawaska was third at 134. Maine Coast’s boys compiled 51 points over two days to beat Fort Kent (96).
