Andrew James backs up his dual cab Toyota Tacoma on Wednesday after picking up a heifer at a friend’s farm in Litchfield. James was delivering the week-old dairy calf to a farm in Mercer in the cab of the truck, which he said accommodates baby cows perfectly. “If they get any bigger I put them in the bed,” James said.

Robert McKee returns on Wednesday to the woodworking shop at his family’s farm in North Wayne. The retired teacher, 74, has been building stick furniture since 1974 for customers. McKee said he has one customer left and two orders to fill before resuming work on pieces for his children.
