Augusta — The Red Barn Cares Foundation recently announced a successful inaugural season of fundraising for local organizations and individuals. Twelve fundraisers were held Tuesday evenings at The Red Barn raising $11,113.74 for local organizations and individuals, according to a news release from the foundation.
Some of the organizations who benefited from this season’s fundraisers included The Amy Buxton Pet Pantry, the Skating Association of Maine, Maranacook Youth Hockey, the Friends of Lithgow Library, Literacy Volunteers of Augusta, Kiwanis, the Waterville and Augusta food banks, the Augusta Boys and Girls Club, groups from Cony, Erskine and Gardiner schools, in addition to others for a total of 22 organizations and individuals. Multiple organizations received gift card donations for fundraisers. The Miles for Mills 5k and the Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center both will receive sponsorships, according to the release.
The Red Barn Cares Foundation will announce the 2015-16 application availability early this summer for next fall.
The foundation presently delivers meals on the weekends to some local homeless shelters with a van donated by Darling’s Auto.
