WATERVILLE — Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for its annual college scholarship, the Joseph B. Ezhaya Memorial Scholarship. Eligible seniors who attend high school in Mid-Maine Chamber’s membership region are encouraged to apply by April 24.
The $750 scholarship is awarded each year to a local high school senior who has shown commitment to citizenship and community service, according to a news release from the chamber. The recipient also must be enrolling at an accredited New England college or university, have maintained a GPA of 2.0 or better in high school, and complete his or her first semester of college with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Applications are available by contacting Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, as well as on the organization’s website, midmainechamber.com. Applicants are required to complete an essay on citizenship and community involvement as part of the application process.
The annual scholarship was established in memory of Joe Ezhaya, a community leader who was known for his generosity and dedication to civic engagement. An annual selection committee will meet to evaluate applicants based on their exemplification of these qualities.
