AUGUSTA — The Pine Tree Council of Boy Scouts of America will present Augusta resident John Finnegan with the 2015 Award for Outstanding Community Service Tuesday, March 31, at Le Club Calumet, 334 West River Road. A reception will begin at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6 p.m. The presentation is open to the public.
Finnegan recently retired from 36 years in the insurance business with Macomber, Farr and Whitten. He was president and a partner of the firm at the time of his retirement, according to a news release from Roger Pomerleau.
Finnegan has volunteered for the UMA Foundation, Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce, MaineGeneral hospital, Augusta Parking District, Lithgow Library Board of Trustees, Maine Families Network, and served the City of Augusta as a fair hearing officer, helping those who seek city assistance get fair and compassionate treatment, according to the release.
There is no admission charge, though the Pine Tree Council will accept donations in Finnegan’s honor.
