FAIRFIELD — Every year at Christmas time the Fairfield Police Department holds a Cops Care for Kids program, through which officers deliver gifts to children that live in town.
This program, ongoing for nearly 20 years, has placed thousands of gifts into the hands of kids. What started as a gesture by the late Det. Captain Kingston Paul to provide a little extra to disadvantaged children has morphed into a program where police get to interact with families all over town in a positive light, according to a news release from Officer Casey Dugas.
The department invites families to the Fairfield Community Center on Water Street to pick up their gifts on Thursday, Dec. 19, between 4-7:30 p.m.
Each child will receive three wrapped presents, cookies and a beverage. There will also be a movie playing.
To sign up, visit fairfieldcopscare.com. For families with transportation issues, the department can still do home delivery.
This program is available to Fairfield residents 16 and younger.
