WATERVILLE — AwanaClubs children’s ministries for ages 2 through sixth grade is scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. every Wednesday beginning Sept. 6 at Kennebec Valley Baptist Church, 91 Marston Road.

“Our Awana ministry trains the next generation to be lifelong disciples of Jesus. We do this under the philosophy that an effective disciple belongs in the local church in fellowship with other believers, that they believe the Bible and are familiar with its teachings, and that with experience become an effective fruit-bearing disciple,” says Patrick Simpson of Oakland, the club’s ministry director, according to a news release from church member Kay Gindall.

The curriculum is age specific: Puggles is designed for ages 2 and 3; cubbies, ages 3-5; Sparks, grades kindergarten to two; and T&T, grades three to six.

A typical evening begins with games, small group activities and lessons. “Our program’s strength is in the high-quality small groups that we incorporate into each night, run by experienced leaders who have a passion for children’s ministry,” Simpson said.

Special evenings are planned such as, “Glow Night,” holiday events, drive-in movie nights, and other acivities to create excitement among the children.
