ROCKLAND — Police said Sunday night that Callie, a six-year-old English bulldog, had never been stolen.
The dog’s owner reported Callie stolen between 10:50 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. Friday from vehicle parked in the Staples-T.J. Maxx parking lot.
Deputy Police Chief Alex Gaylor said the department received a message from a person who informed police that the dog was safe at home.
When police contacted the owner, who lives in Waldo County, he told them that when he got home Friday, he realized he had never taken the dog to Rockland but thought he had. He did not inform anyone, however, that the dog was safe.
