‘The Living Last Supper’ planned

Sunday concert set for First Baptist Church
WATERVILLE — The First Baptist Church of Waterville will present a series of Sunday afternoon concerts for the Lenten season with several of the area’s finest organists starting tomorrow.
Performers will play First Baptist’s pipe organ, one of the largest in central Maine and that dates to the 1800s. All concerts are free and will take place at 2 p.m. at the church at 1 Park St.
The scheduled performers and concert dates follow:
* April 10: Lynne Burney and Mary E. Matteson are the co-organists at First Baptist Church in Waterville. For more than 30 years, Burney has been accompanist to a wide variety of Broadway musicals and school choruses. She lives in Augusta where she works at Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce. Matteson is Waterville school’s music teacher for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade and choral director. She provided music training for Waterville, China, Fairfield and Milford, Conn.; and taught piano from 1995 to 2001.
* April 17: Alan Wingard is composer and organist at St. Mark’s Church in Augusta and Methodist Church in Belfast. His teachers include Walter C. Renton, Charles A.H. Pearson and the late Rev. Dr. Donald D. Kettring, a friend and mentor. Wingard has performed across Maine and in Canada.

Easter services planned in Vassalboro
VASSALBORO — The Vassalboro United Methodist Church will observe the following Lenten events through Easter.
* Palm Sunday will be observed April with the passing of palms after the regular church service.
* Maundy Thursday services will be held April 21 with communion being served at 6 p.m.
* Good Friday will be observed April 22 with a community service at Notre Dame Church in Waterville.
* Easter Sunrise service will be held April 24 at the China Lake boat landing on Route 32 at 6 a.m. Public is invited to all services.
* Easter breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the church.
* Easter service will held during the regular church service at 10 a.m.
Commandery Easter service planned
WILTON — Pilgrim Commandery 19 Knights Templar will hold its annual Easter service and breakfast at the Farmington/Wilton Harnden Masonic Hall on the Bryant Road in East Wilton.
The service will begin at 7:30 a.m. April 24. All Sir Knights and Masons are invited to attend along with their sons and grandsons. Donations will be accepted for the breakfast. For more information, call 778-2809.
New Hope celebrates 10th anniversary
SOLON — The New Hope Evangelical Free Church will celebrate its 10th anniversary of ministering the Gospel, and also establishing the New Hope Women’s Shelter for more than a year in the Solon area.
A celebration service is planned for 6 p.m. April 17 at the church, 111 South Main St. Everyone is welcome.
The service will include singing, music, history accounts, a PowerPoint presentation, speakers, and refreshment. Fellowship will follow the service. Nursery will be available for children younger than 3.
