WATERVILLE — Police are investigating a burglary at a building being renovated on Armory Road where there was no forced entry but power tools were stolen.
The burglary at 72 Armory Road was reported about 8 p.m. Jan. 25 in a building that is being renovated for a SweetFrog business, according to interim police Chief Bill Bonney. SweetFrog sells frozen yogurt and related treats and currently is located at 14 Waterville Commons Drive.
“Officer (Jake) Whitley is following up on all leads and if anybody has any information, they should call him at 680-4700,” Bonney said Tuesday.
He said the value of the power tools taken in the burglary is about $1,500.
Asked what it means, in general, when there is no forced entry, Bonney said it is when entry could have been made through an open door or window, or someone may have had a key.
SweetFrog posted an update on its Facebook page that says tools and a few other small items were stolen in the burglary and it is believed it may have occurred between the evening of Jan. 22 and the evening of Jan. 24.
“We have been working very hard to get this major renovation completed so we can open,” the post said. “This has been a setback but we are still moving forward. We ask if you know something or saw anything, any information is greatly appreciated to help in getting our tools back.”
The building where the burglary occurred previously housed different ventures such as an auto sales business, auto detailing service and an Asian fusion sandwich shop. It is located next to Caswell’s Liquidation Center.
