SOUTH CHINA — Erskine Academy has announced its top 10 senior students in the class of 2014.

Marissa White, daughter of Marion and Raymond White of Jefferson, is valedictorian. White has completed a variety of community service projects. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has participated in cross country, basketball and the swim team.

White plans to attend the University of New England to study medical biology.

Cory Pedersen, son of Bonnie and John Pedersen of Whitefield, is salutatorian. Pedersen has been involved in the math team and he was a 2014 National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist.

Pedersen plans to attend the University of Maine, where he will major in engineering.

Alexis Wright, daughter of Kim and Gary Wright of Vassalboro, is ranked third. Wright has participated in cross country, indoor track, track and field, Student Council, Prom Committee, FOR (Friends of Rachel) Club, National Honor Society and the EA Leadership Team. She has received a Renaissance Senior of the Trimester award and has completed numerous community service projects.

Wright plans to attend High Point University with major in athletic training.

Emma Wilkinson, daughter of Kelly and Joel Wilkinson of Windsor, is ranked fourth. Wilkinson has participated in soccer, swim, tennis, Student Council, AFS (Erskine’s cultural awareness group), the EA Leadership Team, Prom Committee and National Honor Society. She is a recipient of the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award, the Maine Principal’s Award and she has been a Renaissance Recognition and Senior of the Trimester recipient. In addition, she has completed numerous community service projects.

Wilkinson plans to attend the University of Maine to pursue studies in chemical engineering.

Meagan Sturgis, daughter of Lisa and Mark Sturgis of Windsor, is ranked fifth. Sturgis’ extra-curricular involvement has included National Honor Society, cross country, indoor track and track and field. She has participated in a variety of community service projects and has received a Renaissance Recognition award.

Sturgis plans to major in English at the University of Maine.

Moriah Cloutier, daughter of Jennifer and Lance Cloutier of Vassalboro, is ranked sixth. Cloutier’s extra-curricular activities have included National Honor Society, TLC (Erskine’s community service group), Student Council, AFS, Prom Committee, cross country, softball and basketball. She has received a Renaissance Recognition award and she has participated in a variety of community service activities.

Cloutier plans to attend the University of Maine with a major in psychology.

Taylor Bailey, daughter of Roberta and William Bailey of Vassalboro, is ranked seventh. Bailey has participated in National Honor Society, soccer, basketball, tennis and the Business Club. Bailey has received the Society of Women Engineers award and she has received awards for outstanding achievement in science, English and physical education.

Bailey plans to major in environmental engineering at the University of Maine.

Mikaylah Cloutier, daughter of Jennifer and Lance Cloutier of Vassalboro, is ranked eighth. Cloutier has been a member of the field hockey, basketball and softball teams and she has participated in TLC, National Honor Society, AFS and Prom Committee. She has also been a Renaissance Recognition award recipient and has completed a variety of community service projects.

Cloutier plans to attend the University of New England, with a major in medical biology/premedical studies.

Kala Freytag Wistar, daughter of Kathy Wistar and Matthew Freytag of Vassalboro, is ranked ninth. Wistar has participated in the pep band, math team, National Honor Society and TLC. In addition, she has been the recipient of outstanding achievement awards in biology, algebra and Latin and she has received the St. Thomas University book award. She has also received a Renaissance Recognition award and has participated in the District 3 Honors Music Festival.

Wistar plans to major in liberal arts at St. John’s College.

Richard Preston, son of Janet and David Preston of China, is ranked 10th. Preston has participated in soccer, tennis, math team, chess club, pep band, EA Theater Club, Student Council, the EA Leadership Team and National Honor Society. He has received certificates of outstanding achievement in algebra and calculus and he has participated in the District 3 Honors Music Festival and the All State Music Festival. He has received Renaissance Recognition and Senior of the Trimester awards, the Rensselaer Medal and has competed in the national math meet at Pennsylvania State University.

Preston plans to attend Tufts University to major in engineering.
