AUGUSTA — Police are searching for a man they say showed a gun and demanded money and merchandise at about 1:21 a.m. Saturday at the Big Apple on Stone Street.

The suspect, a man dressed in dark clothes and carrying a backpack, fled the store before police arrived and has not yet been identified.

According to a news release issued by the Augusta Police Department, the man is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet 3 inches to 6 feet 6 inches tall, 160 pounds to 200 pounds, wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, dark gray sweatpants and black sneakers.

No one was injured.

Police continue to investigate the robbery.

The Augusta Police Department asks anyone with information on the location or identity of the person involved in the robbery to contact the department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau at 207-626-2370 ext. 3418.

The convenience store, located south of the Cony Circle, was robbed twice in 2022 and has been robbed at least 10 times since 2014. The store advertises that only a limited amount of cash is kept in the cash register and has taken other steps to prevent robberies.
