Clara L. (Cottle) “Meme” Crochere

AUGUSTA – Clara L. (Cottle) “Meme” Crochere, passed away peacefully on Sept. 29, 2022, surrounded by her daughter and granddaughters, in Chelsea, ME.

Clara was born on March 31, 1943, in Augusta, ME and grew up in Manchester, daughter to the late Leroy and Ruth Cottle.

In her younger years, she was employed by Lipman’s, Augusta Shoe, Lucien’s, and Figoli’s. She owned and operated a boarding home for 13 years. Clara was a person that would help or take in anyone in need at any time. Her favorite job of all, was being Meme to her granddaughters, numerous daycare kids, 67 foster children, which included her favorite Michael.

Clara was predeceased by her parents Leroy and Ruth Cottle, five brothers: Oral, Maurice, Russell, Harold and Leslie Cottle and three sisters: Beatrice Ridley, Laura Preston and Florence Brush, long term partner Will, and her kitties: Princess, Buster, Ashes, and Soot.

She is survived by her daughter Brenda and son in-law Vernon Stevens of Chelsea, her granddaughters, Meredith DeBlois of Augusta and Mariah Morin of Whitefield and their spouses, several nieces and nephews, cherished friends, and her special friend Clem Bolduc.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 8, at 12 p.m., at the Manchester Grange, 943 Western Ave., Manchester. Private Burial.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.
