I am writing to endorse Dana Sennett in the Waterville mayoral race. With 15 years on city council and five months as mayor, Dana has demonstrated a strong knowledge of working city government and skill as a consensus builder.

I do not agree with the other candidates that Waterville needs a change in direction. There are many indications, despite the persistent economic downturn, that Waterville is moving in the right direction: The rebuilt library, the rebuild of the high school and the opera house, the continuing rebuild of city streets, the Educare preschool project and the Quarry Road ski trail project are all examples of the progress the city has achieved despite the economy.

Although city revenue is down, Dana and the council are working diligently to see that city funds are spent wisely. I am urging my fellow Democrats to support Dana at the polls Nov. 8.

John O’Donnell, City Council Ward 5
