Do you think Maine schools should reinstate mask mandates?

COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in Maine have been on the rise, prompting heath officials to recommend people wear masks in indoor settings in a number of areas. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is urging the resumption of mask-wearing for indoor public settings in states like Maine that are at medium or high risk of COVID-19 transmission.

State officials lifted the mask mandate for schools back in March amid case declines, but some schools are once again looking at requiring masks amid the latest Covid wave. Portland and Bangor schools, for example, reinstated mask requirements recently, in response to heightened infections across Maine. With just a few weeks left in the school year, districts in central Maine haven’t yet moved to reinstate mask mandates.

But what do you think? Do you think Maine schools should be requiring masks again amid the latest wave of infections? Let us know what you think in the poll and comments below.
