PITTSFIELD — A man and a woman were arrested this week on drug-trafficking and other charges after they were found with fentanyl, crack cocaine and other illicit drugs and paraphernalia, the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Investigators had warrants Wednesday when they searched vehicles belonging to Jefferey Aubin, 32, and Barbara Norrie, 31. A residence on Deer Run Street in Pittsfield also was searched, according to a news release issued by the sheriff’s office.
“The search began with the execution of a search warrant in which Aubin was a passenger at a Pittsfield gas station,” Sheriff Dale Lancaster said in the release.
Investigators discovered Aubin had two outstanding warrants out of York County for aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs. He was searched at the scene and “yielded several grams of suspected fentanyl and several suboxone strips,” the release said.
Norrie had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants out of Penobscot County for unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
Investigators later went to the Pittsfield residence and found over 70 grams of crack cocaine, 15 grams of fentanyl, 2 pounds of marijuana, over $3,000 in cash, several firearms, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia, according to the release. The release indicated that Aubin and Norrie lived at the residence, but Somerset County Jail records list Norrie as a Palmyra resident.
Aubin and Norrie face charges that include two counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs on top of their outstanding warrants. The drug charges are elevated because of the amount of drugs involved and the presence of a loaded firearm, authorities said.
“This case is an ongoing investigation centered around illicit drugs, such as fentanyl and crack cocaine, that is being sold to individuals in Somerset County,” Lancaster said.
Additional charges may be forthcoming after the district attorney’s office reviews the case.
Aubin and Norrie were transported to the county jail in Madison, where bail was set for each at $250,000 cash. The two are scheduled for arraignments on April 6.
