Còig will be fresh off their recent tour through England and plans to return to the states to kick off their Celtic Christmas Concerts.

They are one of Atlantic Canada’s most exciting Celtic traditional groups and will perform their popular Christmas Concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14,  at 49 Franklin, at 49 Franklin St. in Rumford. A monetary collection will be taken at the intermission to benefit the Old School Food Pantry located at the former St. Johns School in Rumford. Doors open at 5:00 pm for social, seating (general), and full pub menu.

Guest musician, Thierry Clouette (guitar and foot percussion) will join Chrissy Crowley (fiddle), Rachel Davis (fiddle), and Darren McMullen (multi-instrumentalist) for the Christmas tour. With the fiery Celtic high-energy style as its musical core, Còig easily shifts between century-old tunes of past generations to original and upbeat compositions, featuring the band’s range of over a dozen instruments (vocals, fiddles, guitars, banjo, mandolin, viola, bouzouki, whistles, and more). With driving tunes, haunting songs and infectious energy, Còig is an unparalleled music force.

Hot on the heels of the group’s award-winning 2017 album “Rove” comes the brand-new release, “ASHLAR.” Brimming with new ideas, and lots of energy built up from their hundreds of international performances, the band figured, “Why wait?” They packed themselves into producer Dave Gunning’s Wee House Of Music studio in Nova Scotia during a brief break in touring, and everything fell into place perfectly.

Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 day of show. Tickets are available downtown Rumford at All That Jazz, and online at 49franklin.com. Tickets in advance are recommended as the group is known to sell out all over.

Enter at the right side of the building, the show will be on the first level in the grand front room. If you park in the upper lot you can enter through the theater.
