MADISON — A 65-year-old woman from Athens suffered an apparent head injury this week when her car struck equipment parked along the side of a road and rolled over, police said.
Linda Swett was driving on Horsetail Hill Road in Madison toward Athens at about 1 p.m. Tuesday when the wreck occurred, Somerset County sheriff’s Chief Deputy Michael Mitchell said.
Parked on the right side of the road was a truck with a trailer in tow, and on the left side was a skidder. The skidder was planned to be loaded onto the trailer, Mitchell said.
Swett was driving a 2017 Lincoln sedan when she came upon the equipment and her car struck the trailer. The car rolled off the right side of the road and came to rest upside down.
Swett, who was wearing her seat belt, was transported to Redington-Fairview General Hospital with a possible head injury. The truck was empty and no one else was injured. Mitchell said that speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash, and the crash was likely caused by driver inattention.
Somerset County sheriff’s Deputy Tyler Lafreniere responded, as did the Madison Fire Department and Anson-Madison-Starks Ambulance.
