There are two candidates running for the Waterville Ward 7 school board position.

I am one of them. My name is Ron Merrill, your former charter commissioner, 2019-2020, and 45-year resident of the South End. It is my belief that my background experience qualifies me as a viable candidate for this position. I am a Thomas College graduate with a B.S. in business education. I have 30 years of high-school teaching experience along with a 10-year stint as an instructor of substitute teacher training in the Waterville Adult Education Program. I am a former regional director of the Business Education Association of Maine and am currently a substitute teacher in School Administrative District 54.

In order for our students to take full advantage of their education, they must feel safe whether they are inside a classroom or outside on the playground. Being a former business teacher, I believe that each child must receive a quality education with an emphasis on financial management and vocational classes to meet the needs of today’s constantly changing world and workplace.  I will, as your representative, consider each matter which comes before me, after debate of all aspects, to find the best solution possible.

Before you are two formidable candidates for you to consider. It is now up to you to make your own decision as to the candidate of your choice.

Be sure to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

Ronald Merrill
