BELGRADE — Camp Bomazeen held its annual Haunted Woods program Oct. 2.
Youth dressed as their favorite character or monster roamed the historic Horse Point Road camp, visiting Halloween-themed stations.
More than 60 youth and adults attended the program, run by 15 Scouting volunteers. Activities included a visit to the haunted med lodge, cooking apples stuffed with caramel and chocolate, archery, pumpkin decorating, bb gun shooting, frisbee disk, hay rides and slime making.
Rep. Dan Newman of Belgrade kicked off the event by presenting the camp with a state of Maine flag, used as part of the opening flag ceremony.
Newman had never presented a flag to someone dressed as a penguin, as Camp Director Julie McKenney was for the event, but he is familiar with Bomazeen. He had come to the camp for many summers as a youth growing up in Windsor.
