Sometimes it’s best to keep things in the family — even if it is real estate. At least that’s what’s ringing true for weight-loss guru Jenny Craig.
The entrepreneur recently sold her home for $6.1 million to her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Duayne Weinger, according to the Wall Street Journal. The home was on the market for nearly a year, listed in early January 2011 for $8,995,000.
Craig and her late husband, Sydney, began a nutritional weight-loss program in 1983 in Australia and moved it to the U.S. in 1985. The company was sold to Nestle for an approximate value of $600 million. Today, the company continues to soar with endorsements from star spokespeople like Queen Latifah, Kirstie Alley and Mariah Carey.
According to Real Estalker, the Craigs picked up the piece of Rancho Santa Fe real estate – which they named “The Villa” — in 1997. Rancho Santa Fe is a pricey area located about 20 miles north of San Diego. Median Rancho Santa Fe home values are currently $1,719,200.
The Craigs’ home appropriately boasts an in-home gym, tennis courts and pool. The main house has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, all with views that stretch to the Pacific Ocean. The three-acre property also includes a car museum and 2-bedroom guest house.
