HALLOWELL — Vaughan Woods & Historic Homestead at 2 Litchfield Road, a nonprofit nature preserve and historic house museum, invites the public next month to tour the gardens and grounds of the 1794 Vaughan Homestead.
Tours are to be held from 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays, Aug. 12, 19 and 26, and between noon and 2 p.m. Fridays, Aug. 6, 13, 20 and 27.
The colonial revival flower garden was installed in 1890 and contains many original features. Visitors can pack a picnic lunch and eat under one of the covered gazebos or on the front porch. They can stroll the gardens and grounds on a self-guided interpretive tour. Booklets and maps are provided upon arrival.
The house is closed throughout the 2021 season.
Reservations are not required and parking is on a first-come, first-served basis.
