AVON — Town Meeting will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, March 20, at the Avon Community Hall.
There are two selectperson positions to fill. One will complete the remaining two years left due to a resignation. The other position, a three-year term is available because the current selectperson decided not to run. Nominations will be taken from the floor.
A three-year seat on the Maine School Administrative District 58 board of directors will be filled.
Town Constable, Town Clerk, Tax Collector, Road Commissioner and Treasurer, all one-year positions will also be elected. The incumbents in those positions are seeking re-election.
Voters will be asked to consider a $273,740 municipal budget for 2021 that does not include county or school taxes. It represents a $38,900 increase, or 16.6% above the current spending plan, according to selectman Jerry Gilchrist.
“Roads, operational costs, the cost to roll out the planned increase in town office hours and an additional staff member for 2021,” he replied when asked about the increases.
There are no new warrant articles, one-time issues, or any that might draw debate among the 56 articles to be acted on, Gilchrist said.
