Cony Middle and High School and Hall-Dale Elementary School each reported a positive COVID-19 case on Wednesday afternoon.
Regional School Unit 2 Superintendent Tonya Arnold reported the positive case at Hall-Dale Elementary in a letter to the community posted on the district website. She wrote that close contacts were identified and called.
Hall-Dale Elementary School’s hybrid learning structure will not be impacted by the one case.
“No other schools in the RSU have received reports of new cases during or since vacation,” Arnold said in the letter.
At Cony Middle and High School, Principal Kimberly Silsby reported an individual tested positive for COVID-19 in a letter that was posted on the Augusta school district’s website.
Silsby said the individual is “in isolation,” and close contacts have been identified and contacted.
Those in close contact with the positive COVID-19 case at Cony will receive a “Sara Alert” text message to their cellphone from the Maine Center for Disease Control & Prevention, Silsby said. The Sara Alert System will give daily updates on what to do in isolation and what symptoms to pay attention to.
“We do recognize that we may have further cases due to the COVID cases in the state,” Silsby’s letter said.
